April 26, 2008 (Saturday), 10 am until Noon: Elegant and Easy Wire Wrapping Field Course


Join Tony Spanley and learn the decorative craft of wire wrapping. Participants will make a pendant that they can attach to a chain and wear as a necklace. The necessary tools, wire and a polished stone will be provided. Have fun as well as acquire the skill to craft other pieces of jewelry or items for home decorating.


This Field Course will be held at the Indiana Dunes State Park Nature Center located north on Route 49 at Lake Michigan in Chesterton, Indiana. To reserve a spot, call the State Park Nature Center at 219-926-1390. The fee for Wire Wrapping Field Course is $15.00 per person. The class size will be limited to fifteen individuals to allow the talented instructor ample time to work individually with all participants.


June 2008

June 14, 2008 (Saturday), 9 am until Noon: Carving a Spirit Face Field Course

Legend tells us that a wood spirit is Lord of the Forest and Natural Things. Seeing one on a stroll in the woods is considered a lucky thing. Come to the class to make your own spirit face from cottonwood bark, which will be provided along with the knives and gouges necessary for carving, under the instruction of Tony Spanley. A completed spirit face will be produced in the three hours of class. Previous carving experience is not necessary.


This Field Course will be held at the Indiana Dunes State Park Nature Center located north on Route 49 at Lake Michigan in Chesterton, Indiana. Call the Nature Center at 219-926-1390, to reserve your spot. The fee for the Carving a Spirit Face Field Course is $25.00 per person. With safety in mind, the class size will be limited to only ten participants.

This is a repeat of a previously offered and extremely popular field course. The ten available spaces will go quickly. Therefore, please call the State Park Nature Center as soon as possible to make your reservation.
